The Regional Sportsfest (Part 2 updated! Hehehe...)

THEY KNOW ME SO WELL!!!
Before Regional Sportsfest:

Hey guys,
How's it going?
Good?
That's good :)

So, the Regional Sportsfest is coming up and...I don't think I'm really looking forward to it. Well you can't blame me! So lets have a flashback moment which will probably explain to you more on why I'm not that excited for the Regional Sportsfest...

Miss Bolger: The Regional Sportsfest is coming up soon so I would like you all to chose your top two favourite sports that you would like to be in. I'll write down your requests and send them to Miss Higgins, who will allocate you into one of your choices. That's why I have asked you to chose two sports because you may not get into one of them.
*Whispers erupt in the room*
Miss Bolger: So here are the sports you can choose from...*names quite a lot of sports* Put your hand up once you've decided what sports you would like to play.
*People start putting up their hands as me and a group of friends start a conversation*

Me: What are you guys gonna choose?
Katerina: ....I don't know!
Millie: I want to be in badminton but a lot of people are going to ask for it too.
Me: I know right! I really want to be in badminton! Like, it's the only sport I really know how to play...
*Katerina laughs*
Katerina: Well, people in the whole syndicate are going to be choosing one of those sports so there's bound to be quite a lot of people choosing badminton.
*I'm silently hyperventilating in the corner...*
Me: Okay, I'm choosing badminton as my first choice. Now my second choice-
*Catherine Ramoo joins the conversation*
Catherine: What are you guys choosing?
Me: I don't know, badminton and...something else.
Catherine: Choose hockey!
Me: Why? I don't even know how to play.
Catherine: Choose it anyway.
Me: Okay.
*I put my hand up*
Miss Bolger: Sharon?
Me: Badminton and hockey, please.
*Miss Bolger jotts it down*
*I re-join the conversation*
Catherine: Good, you chose hockey.
Me: Yeah, lol, I would choose anything but football.
Millie: Why?
Me: Well, I have played football a few times, I don't know, three or four years ago? It was at school and we didn't exactly follow the rules. So I don't want to choose football because I don't want to muck up anything. Secondly, well, if I chose football, I might be the only one in team who hasn't gone to lessons and stuff. And last of all, I really don't want to get hit in the face by the ball. It's happened before and, trust me, it wasn't nice.
*Katerina laughs like there's no tomorrow*

So yeah there's the flashback. And let me tell you what happened afterwards, the day Miss Bolger announced the finalized teams.

Miss Bolger: Alright, so here are the final teams Miss Higgins arranged.
*Miss Bolger reads out sports and names*
Miss Bolger: Now, in the badminton team, I have...*I've got my fingers crossed, really wanting to be in the badminton team.* Claire, Katerina, Isabella and Sarah.
*I let out a sigh, but on the inside I'm exploding*
Me: Good job Katerina.
Katerina: Haha, thanks.
*I turn to Millie*
Me: Well I guess we didn't make it into the team.
Millie: Yeah. *Shrugs*
Miss Bolger: Now onto football...*I'm only half listening* Let's see...*calls out names* ...Josh, Frankie, Thomas and Sharon.
Me: WHAAAT?! (I say it loud but not too loud) *I have a massive anger fit on the inside. Me on the inside: NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
*I hear Katerina sniggering and I glare at her*
Catherine: Looks like you got into your dream team.
Me: Yes I know right (voice dripping with pure sarcasm)

Mhmm. So you guys probably figured it out that I got into football. Yes, sadly, I didn't get either of my choices. But hey, I've stopped being sad and faced the fact that I can't change now. I'm still determined to do my best and help my team. One of my team mates even offered to help me out. So a shout-out to Josh, for being supportive! Yay, I feel so much better now!

What can I do to help my team enjoy the day? Well, I guess I just have to be the positive one so if we lose a game or so, I can point out the positives and maybe it'll help my team feel better. But who knows, maybe we won't lose any of the games...
And, of course, I have to participate and help our team win!

So let me re-phrase what I said at the beginning of this post:
I am looking forward to the Regional Sportsfest, I'm going to be positive throughout the whole day, and I'm gonna do everything I can to help my team win! And nothing is going to get in our way!

Alright, so that's it guys. For now. I'll be back after the Regional Sportsfest to tell you all how it went. So until then, cya! Oh yeah, and wish me luck! I'll be needing it!

After Regional Sportsfest:

Alright, let me start off this part of the post with a question:
Did you guys enjoy the Regional Sportsfest?

Because I did! To be honest, football isn't that bad. Most of the time, I had no idea what I was doing so I followed my team mates' advice and just kicked the ball forward. I mean, I'm not a pro at football like the rest of my team, so following their advice and doing what they say was the least I could do.
Before giving a brief report of my day, I want to give a shout out to the team.

So I would like to give a huge shout out to Thomas, Maeghan, Frankie, Elizabeth, Josh, Jessica, William, and Irakilis (is that how you spell your name...?). Thanks for being a really supportive team and I hope you all enjoyed the day too!

Now, without further ado, let's get straight into it :)

At around 8:30am, the football team left school for Wakefield Park in Island Bay. The football and table tennis team travelled to their destination in cars while the others went on a bus. Jessica, Thomas and I went in Mr Cunningham's car (well, to be more precise, it was Miss Higgin's car, Mr Cunningham borrowed it for the day). It was slightly awkward but we had some random conversations.

Watch the smiley face...for about 20 seconds...
As soon as we arrived, we got out of the car to find that the rest of the team bet us. Mr Cunningham left to attend the dodgeball games as the football team prepared themselves by putting on their shin pads and football boots. Like me, football wasn't one of Jessica's choices either, neither had she ever played. The last time I actually played football was like, I don't know, three years ago at school with some of the boys. But we didn't play according to the rules, like we had no positions and stuff. So Jessica and I stood there, awkwardly, watching the rest of the team prepare. Thank God I wasn't the only unprofessional person (no offence, Jess).

Jessica: Well, this is awkward. I'm feeling more unprofessional every second.
Me: I know right, I feel so left out. Oh well, I might as well participate or Mr Mcgurk would probably get mad and no one wants that.
Jessica: Yeah, same here.

We still had a few minutes before the event started so Jessica, Maeghan and I watched the boys and Elizabeth practice. They ran after the ball like greyhounds as Jessica, Maeghan and I started a new conversation.

Me: Maeghan, you should be practising with them.
Maeghan: I'd rather not get in their way...*Shrugs*
Me: Gosh, Maeghan, if I had your football skills. I would be playing right now.
Jessica: I know right! I'm gonna join and be the annoying person. *Jessica walks off*
Me: Well, this is going to be hilari-

I was suddenly interrupted by Jessica who was yelling "ME! ME!" to the person who had the ball.

This is what I felt like when I was waiting to get off sub
The first game soon started and Jessica, Frankie and I were the subs to start off. I was so awed when I saw how amazing everyone played. Jessica was the first sub to play. She did pretty well although she was, like, really confused. I don't blame her because Mr Mcgurk was yelling at her to do, what seemed like, three different things at once.

Frankie went on a while later. He did incredibly well, considering the fact that he plays football, like the rest of the team. A couple of minutes before the game ended, Maeghan made a spectacular goal. But we were still losing because the other team scored two.

I was still sitting out as sub, keeping alert, really wanting to get on the field and start playing. Just as I was thinking this, the horn thingy rang, which meant game over. I secretly thought that Mr Mcgurk didn't want me to play because I had told him I don't play football. Hmph, well I was determined to prove him wrong in the next game. I was given my position and I think I did pretty well. I participated as much as possible, instead of just standing there, and we ended up winning the game too. Yay!

But afterwards, we were told that players without shin pads weren't allowed to play, according to the rules. So Jessica and I had to sit out for a few games. Overall, I only got to play 1 and a 1/2 out of 6 games. Oh well, at least I had fun. *Shrugs*
Me after getting back home after football. Literally.

So that was my day at the Regional Sportsfest! Yes, I had heaps of fun and the people who organized the games did it well. And I was so damn tired afterwards, like my legs were practically dead. Maybe next year, they should provide spare shin pads for those who don't own any. Lol, I don't know...

That's it for today's post! BYEEEE!

P.S. Please vote your favourite book genre out of the following in the poll above. I'll be announcing the most favourite genre next week! (This blog is copyright so don't even think about it)

  9. Another great post Sharon. Sorry you ended up in football - I didn't know it was your least favourite option! (And anyway I didn't choose the teams.) Luckily you survived the day. Good point about the shinguards, we'll remember that for next time.

  10. "...the horn thingy rang..."

Don't take my word for it but I am pretty sure that isn't the correct terminology. :)

    Anyways, great post Sharon.
I love the dedication and commitment you evidently put into your writing. It makes it so much more enjoyable for me and other viewers to read.

Excellent work once again and I look forward to your next post.
