Omigosh guys, guess what? I've almost finished my Human Biology Science Trust Award sheet! I think I've got, like, 17 stars at the moment but I can easily get three more stars if I just finish off my posters! Yay! Which means I'll also get my Human Biology badge! YASSSS! If I were to do another Science Trust Award sheet (I haven't decided whether or not I should do another one) I would probably do Zoology.
Anyway...so if you guys haven't realized yet, today I'll be talking about the ASB money talk we had. So this guy called Vane from ASB came to our class today to talk about MONEY. Yup, money. He talked to us about a whole heap of thing like how to earn money, spending money but saving it too, eftpos and credit cards and about jobs.
I found this lesson very interesting and beneficial. I learned many things about money and some the facts are:
- You can earn money in many different ways. Doing chores around the house, helping out in the neighbourhood and business are just some of the ways of earning money. If you don't get paid for doing chores at home, that's all right. I don't either. You can't get paid for every single thing that you do but maybe by doing extra chores without being asked, your parents MAY give you some money. If you still don't....well I guess that's just part of being in a family so I suppose you'll just have to deal with it :) Or you could always help out in the neighbourhood by walking their dogs or mowing the lawn.
- Eftpos and Credit cards. Eftpos cards have your OWN money that you earned in it for you to spend. But credit cards are different. When you use a credit card, you're using the BANK'S money. This means when you borrow, you have to pay it back in time or else you'll get charged.
- Bank and Interest. Where's the best place to keep your money? In a money box? Or is it under your pillow? No. The best place to keep your money is at the bank. Why? Well if you keep your money at the bank, you'll get this thing call interest. This is when you get extra money. So if you keep your money in a money box, you won't get extra money :). Also, if you've used your credit card and you owe some money to the bank and if you don't pay it back it time, you'll be charged with interest. Extra money. So interest can be both good and bad.
- Jobs. The guy who talked to us asked us a question. What do you think of when your looking for a job? Most of us thought of how much you'll be paid. Well it depends on how ready you are. If you're planning on an easy going job and you don't want to spend to many hours at work, you may get paid less. If you're someone who is looking for a hard out job like a lawyer, you may get paid heaps more than the easy going guys. Vane also told us that it's best to think of what job you want to do earlier so you sort of have a goal.
- Save money! If you save your money, you can use it for when the time comes when you need to buy something important or something. If you spend all your money, you may not have the money when you really need it.
So what are some of my financial goals? ......I have no idea. Like really. Hmmm give me a sec to think......Omigosh YES! Okay, when I grow up, I really, really, really want to go to AMERICA! Omigosh there are so many places I want to visit there. For example, Disney World, Empire State Building, Universal Studios, Times Square and most of all..... THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER! DUH!
Lol. I think I manage my money pretty well. I don't really spend much money on anything, mainly because of my parents. They think the things I want are rubbish and a waste of money. To them they are. I need to live my childhood. I mean, come on. I won't be wishing for the things I want now in the future. Jeez.
I don't really know how to improve on my money management skills........actually I do.
To spend some money. I don't know. I mean, I never get to spend any money anyway and it's always good to buy something you want once in a while.
So that's everything I learnt at the lesson. Now its time for.....
QUOTE OF THE POST: Spend some on you but save some too.
Hehe, I think you all know what that means.....
