Wow this term is going really fast and the production's creeping closer and closer! I need to get prepared. Plus, I'm really nervous already! I'm pretty sure I've never spoken in front of.... I don't know.... about 200 people? I've danced in front of more than 200 people (Not by myself though!), but I've NEVER said anything before. Actually I have. The speeches. Oh no the speech competition! Worst day of my life. Actually one of the worst days of my life. Anyway, never fear because I think I've got pretty good ways and techniques to get prepared for the production.
The Chair Dance
The dance I'm in for the production is the chair dance. The song is Take a Chance on me by ABBA. The dance is actually not that bad. By that I mean that it's not too hard. So far. Except for the swish. In this dance, we're using the chairs with the wheels. Also known as office chairs or wheely chairs. Whatever you call them. Well in the dance we have to sort of... SWISH the chair and I'm not really an expert at it. But I"ll get there. Eventually....
Lines
For the Production my character is Fitzimmons. Fitzimmons is an agent of S.P.A.C.E. Our theme for this year's production is space (Obviously). Fitzimmons sounds like a smart sort of person and knows a lot about past history and stuff. Basically, this character is smart. Unlike me. Well I guess I'm average.
I haven't really learned all the lines by heart even though I only have four lines. I think I'll be able to learn them by Friday.
Props and Costume
At the moment, I've not made my costume or props. I don't think I'll be needing any props but I will need to make a black costume and a S.P.A.C.E badge. If I could choose any colour for my face paint, then I'll choose red and gold. Or maybe it could be silver and black. Any of those colours will be fine.
One way to get prepared for the production is by practice. Of course, you know what our parents say:
"If you're stuck on something, practice, practice, practise." Our parents have a good point. Anything can happen on stage while you're preforming. Missing out lines, holding the wrong prop or even falling off the stage! Imagine the humiliation of that. One way to get you perfect at your lines is looking in the mirror and reciting the lines. Do some hand movements while you talk. Make yourself look interesting. At first you might look ridiculous but after a few practises you'll get there. Eventually.
Well that it from me for now. come back for my next post! :-)
