Egyptian Hieroglphics Art

Did you know that the Ancient Egyptians were one of the first people who invented writing? Have you ever wondered what the Ancient Egyptian writing was called? Well you've come to the perfect place to find out.
Hieroglyphics was the writing they used in Ancient Egypt. Instead of using letters, they drew pictures representing words and letters. Did you know that there was over 700 hieroglyphics? Ancient Egyptians used no punctuations and had no spaces between words. You could also write Hieroglyphics left to right, right to left or up and down. Now that's confusing!
Hieroglyphs came from a Greek word which means "Sacred writing" but the Ancient Egyptians turned it into Hieroglyphics which means "Divine speech."
This term our topic was Ancient Egypt and for one of our tasks, we had to create a hieroglyphics art work. Let me tell you one thing. That piece of artwork took up most of my task time but it turned out to be better than I expected.
First we painted our background with tea on an A3 piece of paper to give it an old sort of look to it. Then we came up with our own message to translate into Hieroglyphics. By the way Hieroglyphics were used in tombs as well and we were doing a tomb sort of artwork. We also had to choose a picture to go along with it.
Next we used pencil to draw the picture and hieroglyphics on the A3 piece of paper. One of the Hieroglyphics was a bird and by the time I was finish drawing with the pencil I was really frustrated and annoyed because the bird appeared in the writing more than 50 times! Who would want to draw a bird for the rest of their life? Anyway after that was over we had to dye. Did you get the joke?
Well that's it for now. Hope you've learned something new from this post. :-)
